The conference is co-hosted by the VT Grass Farmers Association, the VT Beef Producers Association and the VT Sheep & Goat Association, and coordinated by the UVM Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
Some highlights:
* Keynote speaker Brian Moyer of Rural Vermont will speak to our theme of “Farming for Modern Markets”, as well as leading a workshop on creative marketing.
* National animal behavior expert Kathy Voth will lead a full-day intensive Friday on developing a weed management plan for your farm, as well as a shorter workshop session Saturday.
* UVM Extension’s 4-H program staff will lead indoor and outdoor activities for the kids’ conference.
* UVM Extension’s Farm Viability program staff will facilitate and present a Friday day long business planning workshop.
* Scholarships for attendance and lodging--up to $200 is available per farm for VT dairy farmers wishing to attend.
* 30 topical workshops for all types of livestock, including horses, dairy & beef cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, swine and overarching topics such as soil quality, managing forages, carbon sequestration and building your business.
