Boy its hard to count on when it rains, when you need it to rain it wont but when we dont need it it'll rain for days. Thats how it seems like here anyways

Isn't that the truth? When you are trying to run the strippers you can always count on a good rain. But waiting for a planting rain......

Yeah you are right, so you run strippers? I've always wondered how those work because nobody uses them around here, we have had 6 row pickers since 2001 and this year we have four of the new module building pickers ordered

I bet 4 new pickers put a dent in the checkbook. There are a few of the module building pickers in use out here. Did you get the Case or JD? A stripper has two sets of bats and brushes that turn opposite each other and strip off everything on the stalk. Then 2 augers carry all that back to a cross auger which carries it to the middle and throws it out just below the fan. That blows it into the basket. The unopened bolls and whatever else is heavy falls out on the ground. Of course we don't get the turnout at the gin that a picker gets.

We got the John Deere's, thats all our equipment is and yes they are not cheap i can tell you that right off the bat. Thats pretty neat how the stripper works but i think i want to be getting all the bolls in the basket i can get for the price of fertilize and diesel is now.
