Default Computer accounting

Have been keeping the books the old fashion way ( pen & paper ).
Think its time to try computer accounting software, any suggestions.
What brand are you guys using ? How adaptable are the Low-Cost , generic, over the counter programs ?

Just loaded Q Books simple start 2008 onto my computer, will give it a try.
Did look on ebay and the prices are cheap. Will give it a try, hopefully I can figure it out without attending classes, if it works for me I will pick up a new 2009 off of ebay, thanks for the advice

There are also a couple of good books out there on Quick books, check out your library first .

The free trial edition is very limited. The full version is alot more flexable. So if you like it you will get more when you buy your copy.

My favorite book is called "The QuickBooks Farm Accounting CookBook" by Mark Wilsdorf. I would just buy it, because you're going to be referencing it all the time. It was really helpful for me (I had no accounting experience what-so-ever). That's my two cents.
