Grower Tops New Jersey NCGA Corn Yield Contest with Hubner Seeds Hybrid
Stewartsville's Jeffrey Barlieb Registers 261 Bushels Per Acre

A Stewartsville, N.J., grower credits solid seed genetics and good seed selection advice in winning top state honors in the 2009 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Yield Contest. Jeffrey Barlieb placed first with 261.3389 bushels per acre in the New Jersey no-till/strip-till, non-irrigated category with Hubner Seeds' H5582VT3 brand.

Barlieb raises corn and soybeans and operates a 100-head dairy with his father-in-law, Sam Santini. Santini says they planted the brand on the advice of Jeff's father, Kenny, who is also a Hubner Seed brand district sales manager familiar with the company's seed and the area's agronomics.

With what little gray leaf spot we had, the corn held up well," he says. "Our corn yields generally average in the low 200s, so this was an excellent brand for us."
