Almost missed your post, I have not had chickens for years , but when I did
I would feed them leftovers, almost anything, from the refrig., not sure if that included bananas.

Good Luck with your new farm from another CNY resident, also my daughters first horse was a rescue horse (foundered),We have him for eight years now and is in good condition at 28+ years old.
