Default Miscanthus growers wanted

We have the only named, licensed, university-backed variety of giant miscanthus. We are currently seeking growers for 2010. Healthy, vigorous rhizomes are available now. SunBeltBiofuelsLLC.com for more information.

I just traveled to Germany in 2009 and saw quite a lot of miscanthus being grown in trials there for energy, along with several other plants, and it shows great potential as a renewable, quality bioenergy source.

We hope you'll come back and share information with potential growers and those interested in the future of plants like miscanthus.

I have also been to France 2 months ago. I went to visit one of my friend's company called NovaBiom. There are growing miscanthus since 2007 and have planted more than 3800 acres in France, Belgium and Italy.

Miscanthus harvests are used in biomass boiler for heat or for animal bedding like poultry or horses.

They have large areas of miscanthus giganteus nurseries for rhizomes production. It seems to be very labour intensive to produce those rhizomes !!

They have an interesting website www.novabiom.com

Default Miscanthus Giganthus Plugs available

From what I read when you plant from Miscanthus Giganthus rhysomes you get about a 75% stand and normally people then replant by hand.

Agri Starts in Florida can have Miscanthus Giganthus plants available on a custom order basis. You should then be able to plant these just like you do tobacco transplants and get a much better stand.

Default Miscanthus rhizome planting

Going back to "replant" or repatch a field of miscanthus is largely dependent upon the initial vigor of the rhizomes. We've found that our variety is superior to others in this respect and therefore cuts down on the necessity to go back and replant. Here's a good link regarding vigor: Miscanthus vigor comparison

As for planting, we've been working with the largest farm machinery company in the world in developing machinery for rhizome harvesting and planting, which also helps in the success rate of propagation. This machinery is utilized in our planting of fields for our growers.
