Exclamation SureHarvest and Almond Board to Launch Sustainability Program

NEWS---------

Dr. Cliff Ohmart and almond growers to outline sustainability initiative and discuss pilot test results at Almond Industry Conference SureHarvest and the Almond Board of California will publicly launch a new sustainability program for the almond industry during the opening presentation of the regulatory/marketing track at the Almond Industry Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 9:00 a.m. at the Modesto Centre Plaza.

Dr. Ohmart’s presentation, Sustainability: The Almond Version, will provide an introductory overview of the challenges and opportunities of implementing a sustainability program for the almond industry as a whole, as well as, for individual growers. Several almond growers will share their experiences and lessons learned from participating in a pilot test of the water and nutrient resource use efficiency module of the program, the first of several modules under development by SureHarvest in collaboration with the Almond Board of California.

Because sustainability means cutting costs, optimizing resources and increasing efficiencies, SureHarvest will also be demonstrating how its SureHarvest Farming MIS and Sustainability MIS software can help growers track, analyze and report all farming activities, including scouting, chemical-fertilizer applications, irrigation, yield forecasting, harvest and labor. SureHarvest will be at booth #32 in the Exhibit Hall.

WHAT: Sustainability: The Almond Version
by Dr. Cliff Ohmart, VP Professional Services, SureHarvest
WHEN: 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. December 9, 2009
WHERE: Arbor Theatre at Modesto Centre Plaza
