Bull, I am so sorry you are having such bad weather! We are hanging in here but just barely. The only thing growing in the gloom and wet seems to be the weeds.Cucumber beetles are the worst in 20 years. I tried Spinosad and it works but only for about 7 days. I switched back to Seven because it works much quicker and my rented bees still haven't been delivered. I am going to spray my cucumbers with bee scent because they are flowering and there are only a few wild bees to pollinate , I want them to visit the cucumbers and not all the wild radish that is around my fields now.
Our farm is a valley farm. We have a stream on two sides and the Susquehanna River is 1/4 mile away. We had wonderful sandy loam until the 2006 flood. In 2006 the stream was a flash flood and changed its channel to the middle of our property. We had an 8 foot deep channel right in the middle of our best land. When the water went down there was a 6-8 foot hole in the middle of our cucumber ground. The stream was moved back to its origonal channel and the hole filled in but its not ever going to be the beautiful planting space it once was. Friday our whole market did some serious praying. We had a huge storm cross our area with golf ball sized hail and 60 mile an hour winds. Our farm was very lucky since it passed to the south of us. Hope things improve soon.

Bad here too Bull. We haven't had a dry day at the market since it started. The weatherman said we had 22 days of rain in the month of June. Now on top of all that stress I failed my mammogram last Wednesday. I go back for more tests tomorrow. Encourage someone you love to get tested today.

This weather is just crazy!! I too am working on a fall garden to make up the difference in lost produce. Mold is now creeping through beans and peas. Hot weather crops are just sitting and not producing. I do not have enough seeds left to plant my fall garden so I am going to try and order more. Territorial Seds just mailed a winter catalog so I am going to look there first. We have winter markets once a month. I will try to participate this year. I have sold tulips and daffodils in the past for winter sales. I might try that again. It is pretty easy if you have a place to do it. I do not have a greenhouse yet.

Today's market was another washout. I sold most of my produce but only sold 12 dozen eggs. I had 30 dozen with me Thunderstorms with high wind and hail kept everyone away. Also no one seemed to have much cash. I received $19 dollars in foodstamp tokens, $10 in debit card tokens and $16 in WIC. On the way home I drove through a terrible storm. The wind was so bad I had a hard time keeping the truck on the road. I had slowed down due to bad visibility when a White "camero?" passed me fast. Afew minutes more down the road and he was way off the road facing the wrong way 50 yards from the highway. The wind must have lifted him off the road and he spun out. I would guess we were having 50-60 mph gusts. The normally 25 minute drive turned into a 45 minute white knuckle ride with dime sized hail. I got home and I ate my lunch and shut my eyes for a minute and when I woke up it was almost 8pm and time to lock up the chickens for the night but of course we were having another bad thunderstorm. Bull , I hope the storms die down before they reach you tonight. It looked as if the bad storm I encountered on the way home made a bee line right towards you. We are just short of 2 inches of rain for the day.

Tornado warnings to the south of here !! Not as much rain as yesterday, here's hoping !!!!

spoke to an olde timer today he said this weather reminded him of 1938, is there a Hurricane in our future !!!!

I hope we can skip the hurricanes. We're getting more than enough rain without them. I'm beginning to wonder if it we're ever going to see the sun for more than a day or two. Here in western Maine we've had rain 22 days in June and 5 in July. And it's only the 8th. The only things growing well are weeds. The next couple of days are supposed to be nice. I sure hope so.
